Use this Kindred Spirits cut file with your Silhouette or Cricut to make the perfect handmade gift for a wedding or anniversary!
It’s been almost a year since I hosted my farmhouse sign painting party! I’ve been wanting to have another one, but time has gotten away from me – and with this baby coming in two months, I don’t think it will be happening anytime soon. I had a few extra blank signs from the party sitting in my garage, though, just waiting for a good reason to be used up…so I decided to pull one out to make a farmhouse sign as a wedding gift for some friends of ours.
You can see more details on the actual process of making and painting the signs in that Farmhouse Sign Painting Party post – OR, I actually did a series of Instagram Stories on this Kindred Spirits sign as I was painting it and added it to my story highlights, so you can watch the start-to-finish process over on my Instagram account here! (I use the “PVPP” method of stenciling and painting, and it gives me perfectly crisp letters every single time!)

The bride and groom had used the phrase “Kindred Spirits” in their wedding invitation and on their wedding website, so I thought it would be meaningful to make them a sign using that phrase. To make it truly unique, I hand lettered the “Kindred Spirits” design using my iPad, Apple Pencil, and the Procreate app. Then I pulled it into Silhouette Studio to trace and create my cut file. I added the wedding date using the font “Courier New.”
Even though this is typically called a “farmhouse style” sign, I think the plain black and white and simple frame really lends itself well to many different kinds of decor styles…so even if the bride and groom aren’t into the farmhouse style, it should still work well in their home. I hope they like it!
